Green Bay Area Public School District Youth Service-Learning Policies

  • The service is performed without a material or monetary reward.
  • The activity cannot earn service-learning hours if it involves participation in worship service.
  • The activity cannot advance nor can it inhibit religion.
  • Students cannot use court-referred hours to fulfill the requirement.
  • Credit can be granted for fund-raising activities for worthy community causes, but fund-raising for Green Bay high school clubs or organizations does not count toward the hours earned. 
  • Entertainment or performance activities that are an extension of a class or a co-curricular requirement cannot be considered for service hours.

How can YOU give back to your community?

  • Volunteer in organizations that share your passion
  • Explore career opportunities by volunteering in different areas
  • Volunteer with a non-profit agency in your neighborhood
  • Assist someone in your neighborhood with house or yard work
  • Get involved at a local food pantry, school, or hospital
  • Volunteer to coach a kids sports team
  • Enjoy spending time with you friends while giving back to your community!
  • Pick up a “Teen/Youth Volunteer Project Book” in the Career Center at your high school
  • Listen to school announcements for new volunteer opportunities each week

White Ribbon: 25-49 hours
Red Ribbon: 50-74 hours
Blue Ribbon: 75-99 hours


President’s Volunteer Service Award
National Service Award
Students Grades 9-12
May 1st – April 30th
Bronze: 100-174 hours
Silver: 175-249 hours
Gold: Over 250 hours
