Wildlife Management and Resource Conservation
Grades: 9-12

Content Standard A:
Understand natural resource management practices (i.e. air, water, land, wildlife, fisheries, energy)

Benchmarks
A.12.1 Understand techniques used in managing natural resources
A.12.2 Understand the relationship of outdoor recreation activities to natural resource management practices
A.12.3 Understand ethics in managing natural resources
A.12.4 Understand the relationship of biotechnology skills to natural resource management procedures

Content Standard C:
Understand animal science principles and practices

Benchmarks
C.12.5 Understand digestive systems of various animal species
C.12.7 Know classifications of animal species

Content Standard D:
Understand how species depend on one another and on the environment for survival

Benchmarks
D.12.2 Understand fisheries management and other aquaculture management principles
D.12.6 Know the relationship of wildlife species and management techniques to their environment
D.12.9 Understand the interdependence of man to his environment

Content Standard E:
Understand the principles of agribusiness and entrepreneurship

Benchmarks
E.12.4 Understand the relationship of agribusiness to international trade
E.12.6 Know laws, regulations and other governmental policies regarding agribusiness
E.12.7 Understand the need for research and development in agribusiness

Content Standard G:
Use technology to acquire, organize, analyze, and communicate information

Benchmarks
G.12.1 Use computer to acquire, organize, analyze, and communicate agriscience and natural resource information
G.12.2 Know how to identify and safely use a variety of agriscience equipment
G.12.3 Use current technologies in agriscience (i.e. global positioning satellites, computer technology)

Content Standard H:
Demonstrate effective leadership skills in our society

Benchmarks
H.12.1 Understand the importance of community service and leadership activities

Content Standard I:
Apply the decision-making process to career planning and lifelong learning

Benchmarks
I.12.1 Demonstrate life skills (i.e. teamwork, goal setting, etc.)
I.12.4 Know career opportunities available in the agriscience and natural resource areas
