Course Description:
This course explores topics related to Family and Consumer Science. Emphasis will be placed on life-long learning skills necessary to be a contributing member of a family and society. Projects will be related to foods, children, family dynamics, and consumerism. |

- Demonstrate hand washing activities (Glo-Germ)
- Create a safety visual for the lab
- Demonstrate the use of kitchen tools and equipment in a lab when preparing a food product

Examples of performance activities:
- Discuss, view a video and create a food pyramid
- Prepare healthy foods in a lab setting
- Complete a food diary for 24 hours and analyze the diary based on the food pyramid and serving sizes
- Based on a scenario, complete an analysis of a commercialized diet

- Use practical reasoning to analyze family concerns

- Use a situation/scenario to solve a family conflict
- Create a visual depicting family life cycles, functions and/or continuing concerns
