Welcome to the Green Bay Area Public School District! We're excited you're considering enrolling your child (or children) in our schools. Founded in 1856 with the opening of the Sale School, the Green Bay Area Public School District is rich in tradition, while preparing all children with 21st century skills.
Are you a parent who is new to the district or enrolling your four- or five-year old for their first school experience? Welcome!
Children must be five years old on or before September 1 of the current school year to begin kindergarten in Green Bay. We also offer four-year-old kindergarten to students who are four years old as of September 1. Your child's last report card is helpful if you're transferring from another school district.
Most children attend school in their attendance area; however, a district-wide choice option is also available. For information on choice options, contact the Assistant Superintendent/Chief Learning Officer at 448-2190.
To find out what school your child should attend, visit the school boundary section.
If you are new to the district, please register at the District Office located at 200 South Broadway. Hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please bring:
your child’s birth certificate
your child's immunization records
proof of address, and
if possible, payment for school fees.
Wisconsin’s Inter-District Open Enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend school districts other than the one in which they live. If you live in a school district other than Green Bay Area Public School District, you may apply to attend the Green Bay Area Public School District during the application window of each year (dates vary each year). The application window for the 2012-2013 school year is February 6-April 30, 2012. After your child is approved through this application process, they would be eligible to continue as a Green Bay Area Public School student tuition-free through 12th grade. Applications should be submitted on the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction website. Please visit this website for more information or call (920) 448-2000 (Ext 50114).
