Welcome!
Dear Parents:
Jefferson is a neighborhood school with dedicated staff and community support. Staff, students, parents and the community, work together to provide the highest quality education for our children. Our vision for students is that they will continue their education after graduation and succeed as adult members of our community. The Phuture Phoenix program, which started at Jefferson, supports our vision providing a $1,000 scholarship for every student who attends UWGB. Also, local business and civic groups adopt Jefferson classrooms and send volunteers and resources weekly to support learning. In addition, $1,000 scholarships are rewarded annually to a fifth grade student. Students who have received these in the past are currently enrolled in colleges throughout Wisconsin.
Academic achievement is our priority, Staff are highly trained in quality instructional practices. Jefferson is a SAGE school with class sizes of no more than 15 students in grades K-3 to ensure a strong education foundation. As a fully funded Title I school, we provide additional resources that benefit children’s learning. Jefferson employs both literacy and math interventionists who assist students needing additional support. Students needing support to learn English, we have a highly trained ELL teacher who also speaks Hmong. Fourth and fifth grade students are prepared for middle school with strong literacy and math skills and with an opportunity to rotate classrooms for intense content learning.
We educate the whole child, with programs that support learning beyond the academics. THRIVE for healthy living, a breakfast program, and a healthy snack program to keep their bodies healthy so their minds can be sharp. Teaching children to be socially skilled is also important. We use restorative justice to teach children respect, empathy, and responsibility. The Boys and Girls club provides after-school daycare at the school. We value the cultures of our students and celebrate diversity daily culminating in a multi-cultural fair. A strong family connection is important to us. Home Visits, Family Dinner Nights, Read at Home bags, parent continuing education scholarships, and a Hmong parent liaison are extra supports Jefferson provides the family.
Jefferson is a wonderful place for children to learn and grow as a part of our loving community. Please feel free stop by for a tour. I can be reached at (920) 448-2106 or by e-mail at amdraheim@gbaps.org.
